The Tropical Breeze Of The Fashion Weeks

Vogue Japan April 2013
When travelling to new places it is always exiting to look around, learn about the culture and adapt it to your wardrobe. My placement in Latin America is allowing me to look at fashion from the perspective of hot weather and even hotter blood and temper. The excitement of the current Fashion Weeks got me making a list of what is needed in this hot part of the country.

The air:
Burberry, 2 x Proenza Schouler, Marc Jacobs (all S/S 2016)
Obviously..... there must be categories which take us from day to night. Considering the tropical climate, I will start with the blatant option of daytime "gone to have breakfast with the sea view". The practical details of white reflecting the sun and the natural, loose material providing enough air and lightness to wonder around without overheating. Note the contentious use of the 'shirt-dress' trend, which has been a favourite for a few seasons now. I adore the cut-out and puff ball details which Porenza Schouler has added to their designs and of course the unusual cut of the classical item. Go ahead with flats with hair swept back for that fresh relaxed look. Burberry has provided a contrasted look for their catwalk of mixing between romance and grunge. Use chunky biker boots to flaunt around London, however loose the coat and put on pumps if your down in the tropics. Keep your beach waves natural and rock the fresh skin look with confidence, the dress with its' delicate details and slimming shapes will do all the work for you. Why not turn up for your 'Ladies Lunch' in Marc Jacobs outfit which also contrasts the strictness of the suited look with the playfulness of  ruffles, ribbons and see through blouse.

The Suit:
DVF, Gucci, Rodarte, Marc Jacobs (all S/S 2016)
The Spring 2016 collections have been providing a lot of options in suits, so I just couldn't go past without adding them to the must haves. Whether for work or for a function, these are easy to wear, comfortable options. The high waisted (more pleated rather than tailored) trousers will elongate your legs to model standard (fierce heals are a must), the waist is already accentuated with the pant line, which means taht the top can be picked to your shapes and sizes. Those of us who are not blessed with C-cup and beyond can easily wear deep cuts like Rodarte  design (just think of the way Carla Delevinge rocks her suits). Those with major curves will look fantastic in DVF, who always provides options to outline the best and hide the not so.... On the much brighter side I am totally in love with the coral- cream match in Gucci. The fun prints and juicy colours from Marc wake up the happy go lucky moode and all your duties can be done with a smile. Swap heals for converse or fresh white kicks to relax the look to a more casual, super comfortable state.

The Job:
DVF, 2 x Fendi, Marc Jacobs (all S/S 2016)
On the serious note..... we must work, nevertheless, we can be fabulous whilst we are at it! My apologies for lawyers and bank employees who don't get much freedom. However for the rest of office bees that won't be a problem, there are plenty of yummy outfits. In 30 degree heat the DVF number is a total winner, the outfit is perfectly balanced to look classy, grown and in tact. Warning, those with long legs opt out for flats, those with short keep the heals neutral like the classic Pigale (but I can't help it without adding the sassy J-String Louboutins which will be perfect with this). I was totally smitten by Fendi's collection,  that I'm showing the dress in both colours, as it has the perfect mix of tailoring and shape play. Note the backless details which will be an obvious hit of the season! Something which without a doubt appear on Moscow's it girls is the Marc Jacobs outfit, very girlie, very trendy and very autumn cosy. I will loose the cardie and put on thin starp sandals to adjust it to the warmer part of the world (p.s. Go Ira for the fab catwalk!).

The outing:
Proenza Schouler, Fendi, DVF, Burberry (all S/S 2016)
As the sun sets, we have exhibition openings, cocktail parties and hot dates. Porenza has taken a shape of a Spanish dancer and made it so slick and modern that it can easily be worn for an evening event. Keep the accessories and make up very simple to keep this outfit classy. Yes... I know it's Fendi again, but this one is in different colour....and strapless! I want them all! Pull up a bun and add something like Rita Ora's Originals, get that perfect shade from MAC and you are totally cool and trendy. Make the bun loose, put on strapies, add glowing cheeks and you'll have the sweet as honey Jessica Alba styling. The DVF would be perfect for the cocktails in the tropics with its rich colours and the off the shoulder, body skimming material. The lace dresses have been a massive hit on the red carpet. The MET gala alone embodied our biggest divas in lacy outfits. Burberry has done it the typical British fashion by making something very feminine, something fairly casual and easy to wear. Look for a  body or a underwear set to keep the outfit classy, but add heals and perhaps the current on trend wine lips to take this for a cocktail.

The Flirt:
DVF,3 x Burberry (all S/S 2016)
These are what I would define as the girlie-girl dresses. When you are in that romantic, sweet and flirty mode. All must be short, preferably with pumps for that trip for an ice cream to the park.  A swap to sweet sandals like Jimmy Choo's Lance or the frilly Lilyth will upgrade to the sweetheart date. I adore the use of pastel colour and lace from Burberry, perfect for the sun kissed skin in the tropics, or rosy cheeks in EU. DVF is borderline of fierce, which actually gives the dress great balance and can work with whichever mode you are going for. In fact I can even see certain someone dancing alone to Crazy in Love after a few Cosmos!

Fashion weeks of NY and London have been very exiting and I am overwhelmed with the need to write about everything! However, I will try to keep calm and carry on by having some sort of structure. Therefore watch out for the hot accessories of the S/S 2016 and the ultimate red carpet gowns in the upcoming blogs!

As usual all the links are live and are ready to take you to the magical work of each Fashion House.

P.S. Yes, half way through writing this I saw Versace's show in Milan, and I need that collection over here in Latin part of the world!!!!!!
